Through the Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF), and hundreds of thousands of family members located in all fifty states and the District of Columbia, the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America (OSDIA) has awarded nearly $61 million in scholarships to date. In past years, the SIF has offered 10 to 15 merit-based scholarships (National Leadership Grants), ranging from $4,000 to $25,000, in a nationwide competition. Last year, students received a total of $85,000 in merit-based scholarships!

August 14th, 2021: The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America® (OSDIA) has elected Attorney and former Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi Esq. as its 38th National President. The election was held today at OSDIA’s 57th Biennial Convention which convened in Jersey City, New Jersey and will continue in October in Tampa Bay, Florida. Robert A. Bianchi was sworn in, assuming leadership from Immediate Past President Nancy DiFiore Quinn.
July 1st, 2021: An extremely warm “benvenuta” to Ambassador Mariangela Zappia, the new Ambassador of Italy to the United States! Ambassador Zappia is based at the Italian Embassy in Washington DC. and is the first woman chosen as the country’s representative in the USA. We look forward to our continued close work with the Italian Embassy and Ambassador Zappia!
June 2nd, 2021: Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America® (OSDIA) had the privilege and honor to celebrate the Festa della Repubblica with our friend and colleague Ambassador Varricchio at his residence, Villa Firenze. This was Ambassador Varricchio’s last event in Washington DC, before he takes up his next posting in Berlin. In bocca al lupo!
March 26th, 2021: The Sons of Italy Foundation® (SIF), the philanthropic arm of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America® (OSDIA), will be hosting its 32nd Annual National Education & Leadership Awards (NELA) Gala on Friday, May 28, 2021 where The Polo Family, Yolanda Cellucci, Joseph Mele, And Bob & Lisa Tramontano will be honored. The gala will be held virtually and will recognize highly accomplished honorees, award scholarships to outstanding students, present a van donation to Help Our Military Heroes, and feature a special musical performance by “The People’s Tenor” Michael Amante. February 13th, 2021: National President Nancy DiFiore-Quinn hosts her second virtual Plenary session due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. This was the second virtual Plenary session and the first ever live streamed Plenary session in the 115 year history of OSDIA.
December 12th, 2020: This beautiful painting of our founder, Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro, was done by Sicilian artist Sergio Potenzano and was generously donated to the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America on behalf of the Capitolo di Roma Lodge #3002 in Rome, Italy. The 3 1/2 by 3 feet framed portrait now proudly hangs in the foyer of the OSDIA National Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
October 7th, 2020: Thanks to the diligent and continuous work of Past President of the Grand Lodge of the Northwest, Tony Bisceglia Anderson, the state of Washington, by order of Governor Jay Inslee, has proclaimed the observance of October as Italian Heritage Month.
September 11th, 2020: Lodge “Capitolo di Roma” #3002 President, Carmelo Cutuli and Trustee Paolo Quattrocchi honored Stefano Andreotti as the second Meritorious Member.
Andreotti had long career as a manager in a multinational hitech company, and worked hard to preserve and deepen the archives and diaries containing 50 years of life and work of his father, the 7 time Prime Minister of Italy, Giulio Andreotti.
August 22nd, 2020: National President Nancy DiFiore-Quinn hosts her second Plenary session virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This was the first virtual Plenary session in the history of OSDIA and was run seamlessly, and even allowed for our members to catch up with their fellow brothers and sisters that they have not been able to see.
May 4th, 2020: The Vatican’s State Secretary, S.E. Cardinal Pietro Parolin, sent a letter expressing his pleasure of OSDIA chartering the first lodge outside of North America, with the founding of Capitolo di Roma #3002. He extended his satisfaction by offering his heartfelt wishes for the first Italian chapter in Rome and all future new Italian lodges to follow:
“I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter of March 3, 2020, in which you kindly informed me about the founding of Capitolo di Roma of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America.
While I thank you very much for your delicate attention towards me, I wish you all the best to the new and first Charter in Italy.
I’m happy to take this opportunity to greet you with a sense of my distinct homage.”
April 25th, 2020: The Supreme Lodge is saddened to announce the passing of a valued and dedicated member, Past National President and Marconi Award Recipient, Frank J DeSantis. Frank was member of OSDIA since 1972 when his strong leadership abilities garnered him much attention throughout the United States as well as in California. His election to President of the Grand Lodge of California in 1989 led to a two-year term as the National President in 1997 where Frank effectively led OSDIA to become a more viable and visible organization. Frank will be forever remembered and missed, we extend our condolences to the entire DeSantis Family and the friends who admired him and could count on him for support of any kind to the finish.
March 3rd, 2020: Clarissa Burt became the first Meritorious Member of the Capitolo di Roma #3002. The American born, naturalized Italian, businesswoman and producer was presented the Certificate of Meritorious Membership by the Charter President of OSDIA Capitolo di Roma Lodge, Carmelo Cutuli, in the presence of the Trustee, Paolo Quattrocchi, and the Secretary, Claudio Frasca.
February 2020: The new Lodge “Capitolo di Roma” #3002 has received the Charter and started its activities. Based in Rome, Italy, it is the first lodge established outside North America in 115 years of the OSDIA history.
Led by founding President Carmelo Cutuli, a public relations expert with international experience, the 25 charter members are men and women from many parts of Italy, mostly entrepreneurs, lawyers and freelancers. Capitolo di Roma aims, as an addendum to its institutional mission, to foster relations between the Italy and the Italian-American and Italian communities in America

October 28th, 2019: CSJ President, Robert Ferrito, 1st National Vice President Robert Bianchi, and OSDIA COO Joe DiTrapani hosted the a dinner with the members of the Italian American Congressional Delegation in Washington D.C.

June 26th, 2019: Andrea Bocelli met with OSDIA COO, Joe DiTrapani, in Muccia, Le Marche to thank The Sons of Italy Foundation® (SIF) for their contributions to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, to build the “E. De Amicis” pre-school and elementary school in Muccia, one of the towns in the Marche region most affected by the 2016 earthquake.
